President Obama and his decisions on addressing crises in America

When the President decided to accept the Queen's invitation to visit London on May 24, he could not of course anticipate that the strongest tornado in sixty years would hit areas in Midwest America. But it happened and news reports indicated that almost 117 people had died on Sunday evening May 22 in Missouri and in the northern parts of Oklahoma city. Many houses, cars, and some warehouses were destroyed and, even some floors of St. John's Hospital in Joplin, Missouri were torn up. Many people lost their lives and many others remained missing and injured in the region.

The White House issued a statement from the President on Monday sending his deepest condolences to the people in Missouri. And President Obama also tried to make sure that FEMA worked hard to help people and in this regard he was briefed by the Secretary of Homeland Department, Janet Napolitano.
But he did not attempt to get on Air-Force-1 to visit the people in that city on Monday night and postpone his appointments in Europe for a day or two. The decision he made could be perceived as ignoring the pain of people who lost their homes and relatives and are in a desperate situation. And his appearance in London this morning did not project an image for the people in America that he is in charge now.

Since the President took office in 2009, he has faced many challenges besides typical economic, political difficulties in his daily domestic agenda including environmental disasters such as BP's oil spill which affected all the Gulf of Mexico area states.
Like the President's BP response which was also criticized as being late in his taking control of the situation, now his trip to Europe is likely to be seen as yet another late response to another disaster even though he announced that he is going to travel to the region on Sunday on May 29 after he comes back to the U.S on Saturday.

In conclusion, as a President who is already seeking another chance to be reelected in 2012 he should behave strategically and address the disaster efficiently and pragmatically to show the people who voted for him, or people who are unsure to vote for whom, that whatever happens or whenever he is as the President of USA he is ready to serve and dedicate himself to his country and the people in America.
